Level 1 - Practice Usual Precautions: Travelers to India should:
- Avoid contact with dogs, cats, monkeys, bats, and other mammals
- Do not touch or feed stray animals
- Seek immediate medical care if bitten or scratched by any animal
- Consider pre-exposure rabies vaccination if planning extended stays or activities with increased animal exposure risk
- Wash any animal bites or scratches immediately with soap and water
